Salewa, a world leader in products for mountains and mountaineering, is building the new headquarters in Bolzano. Friday 13 May, was inaugurated the Salewa Climbing Hall, the largest man-made climbing wall in Italy: 20.000 square meters of climbing, 120 routes traced with high up to 20 m.
The project curated by Park Associates and Zucchi Architects of Milan, has been awarded the “Work & Life” for meeting the highest level, the criteria of “social culture” ecological and economic. The seat Salewa is the first commercial building in South Tyrol which awarded this certification. The direction of Casa Clima ( organization for the energy certification) has praised the design of the building as environmentally friendly and cost are not in conflict in this building construction.
The numbers: cost of more than 10 million euros, 2,1 hectares of land area, building height of 50 m (Only one to exceed the limit of 24 m, the first seen arriving in Bolzano), offices, department store, research and development, company nursery, café and climbing.
The game of the heights of buildings and the green, smooth or textured materials and colors, create a building “topographical” that integrates seamlessy with the beauty of the mountain landscape.
The coating of the offices and warehouses has been made of perforated aluminium panels that characterize the intervention in both aesthetic and technical (acting as sunshades on the south side of the screen).
The “skin” color changing in relation to the incidence of solar radiation was treated with three shades of gray and blue designed to blend with the landscape of the surrounding mountains. The possibilities have been realized through the process of electrocolouring interference with personalized colors.
